Today, the ARCA Menards Series opens the race weekend in Watkins Glen, New York. The field is set for the 2.45-mile road course of Watkins Glen International.

Sammy Smith and Brandon Jones set the front row. 41 laps of road course racing are up next..

Green flag, Smith is clear into turn one. Connor Mosack takes them three wide for 2nd into turn one. Tanner Gray bangs doors with Mosack out of the bus stop. Gray finally clears him into turn six to take 2nd away.

Lap 5, Sammy Smith leads Taylor Gray by 4 seconds.

Lap 7, Andy Jankowiak has lost 3rd gear. He pulls to the garage and calls it a day.

Lap 11, Rita Thomason is spun around in the bus stop. She refires but pull forward only to stall in the middle of the track! The caution is out.

Green, Smith is clear into turn one. Gray holds off Mosack for 2nd into turn two. Rajah Caruth has a flat tire behind them, no caution as Caruth heads for the pit lane.

Pit Penalty: Caruth has been caught speeding on the pit lane. He’ll serve a pass through.

Lap 18, Taylor Gray is all over the bumper of Sammy Smith in the battle for the lead.

Lap 22, the race break caution is out. Connor Jones stays out and takes over the front row.

Green, Smith and Gray split Jones as they roll into turn one. Gray has a narrow entry into turn one and he tags the left rear of Smith. Both continue, Smith leads into turn two as Gray holds off Brandon Jones for 2nd.

13 to go, caution for debris.

Green, Smith and Gray run side by side into turn one. Gray locks the tires under braking and Smith is clear into turn two.

8 to go, Christopher Werth dives Amber Balcean into turn seven. Werth locks up under braking, the back end steps out and he doors Balcean. They both slam the wall hard and the caution is out.

Green, Smith is clear off turn two. Mosack and Brandon Jones rub fenders into turn two! Masack rides the wall up the hill, no caution.

Gray dives inside of Smith into turn 7! They rub doors and Gray takes the lead. The caution is out for a stalled machine and Smith will get the lead back.

Green with 1 lap to go, Gray drives it deep to the inside and he doors Smith! They both run wide! Brandon Jones takes over the lead!

Nick Sanchez is all over the bumper of Jones into turn six. He can’t get there.
