The Pixel 6a, tech giant Google's first phone in India since the 4a, was in the news even before it went on sale due to reports of the device coming with a flawed biometric security that lets anyone access the device via fingerprint scanner, regardless of whether their fingerprint is registered or not. Some people also complained that the Pixel 6a requires a lot of attempts to unlock and sometimes does not even function at all.

Google included some major updates in QPR1 Beta 1 with the release of its first Quarterly Platform Release for Android 13 on September 8. And the best news following the QPR1 Beta 1 update is for the Google Pixel 6a users, as the flawed fingerprint sensor has now been fixed.
This was a serious security issue, and Google seems to have fixed this now through a software update. Several users took to Twitter to share their views on the issue.
Pixel 6 series took time to recognise/verify fingerprint and unlock the device, so with Pixel 6A, Google added the feature to unlock the device with unregistered fingerprints for quick access.
Looks like Google did a poor job of testing the Pixel 6a... just like the Pixel 6 and the 6 Pro that had tons of issues. Here on the Pixel 6a after this I can't trust the fingerprint scanner on this device as of now.
The Pixel 6a is priced at Rs 43,999 for the 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage sole variant. The phone will be available in two colour options: chalk and charcoal. The smartphone is set to go for sale on Flipkart, starting 28 July.
The Pixel 6a has a 6.14-inch Full HD+ OLED display and is powered by a Google Tensor chipset. The smartphone features a dual 12 MP camera at the rear, with an 8 MP sensor at the front for shooting selfies. The phone packs a 4410 mAh battery, however the charging brick is not included with the phone.
The new 'A-series' smartphone is powered by the Google Tensor chip, Google's in-house AI/ML accelerator, combined with CPU and GPU cores, as well as Google's new security core. The smartphone also comes with advanced camera features such as Magic Eraser and Night Sight.
